Use Your Network

I've experienced what happens when you don't use your network and what happens when you do and TRUST ME using your network will save you so much pain and trouble. If you're looking to make a career move, even if it's within your current company, ask around and get as much insight as you can to make a very informed decision.

Know What You Want

Once I know what I'm looking for, I make a point to know how to proceed. While it may seem that you have unlimited amounts of options in front of you, you may have at max 4 that make sense for where you're at now and where you're trying to go. Knowing what you want will allow you to set goals and expectations that will help you within your career.

Ask The Right Questions

Asking thoughtful, discussion-driven questions will help you get what you need to be able to succeed. Once you know what you want, the questions that you need to ask will become second nature and will help you get to where you want to be and also help you solve different problems.

You can recognize the game, but that doesn't mean you should play it (or you're even allowed to).

Paying attention to the dynamics within my team as well as within the broader organization has helped me have a better understanding of why the system was never meant for people that look like me to succeed. But rather than trying to figure out how to get in there, I tried to find my way around it. You will find an organization that celebrates and embraces the different facets of you and finds your value.

Embrace this season that you're in. Even if you feel that you're a low point, the best moment is still to come. Continue to celebrate in the good times and keep building in the bad times.
